Fr. John Stopa has been the rector of the Parish of Northern Pontiac for over seven years. This is his first parish - he first served the parish as deacon-in-charge, and was appointed incumbent of the Parish after his priestly ordination. John lives with his wife Barbara and their family in the rectory in Campbell’s Bay.
John’s interests include films, photography, cooking, gardening and writing.
John currently serves the diocese as Assistant Master of Ceremonies. In the past, he has served on various diocesan committees including: The Communications Committee, the Budget Review Task Force (BRTF), Heritage de la Patrimoine Religieuse de Quebec. He was also Regional Dean of Clarendon Deanery from 2001 to 2005. John did his theological training at St Paul University (University of Ottawa): he obtained a Bachelor of Theology (Honours) degree and a Master of Pastoral Theology degree. Prior to studying at St. Paul’s John did undergraduate and graduate work in Religion at Carleton University in Ottawa.
